As a high school guidance counselor, I understand the importance of SAT scores in the college admissions process. Looking Into Mortgage Refinancing
Lately I've been very tempted to refinance my mortgage to save some money every month. The current mortgage rates are excellent when compared to the 6 percent that I originally financed the house with. Having lower interest on the mortgage puts a couple hundred dollars in my pocket, if not more, giving me more room in the budget every month. That means I can buy something special for myself or the family, go out to dinner more frequently if we want to or simply save more money.
The reason why I haven't gone and done it yet boils down to procrastination. I keep reading and hearing that the Federal Reserve has no intention on raising interest rates for the forseeable future, which keeps mortgage rates low. However, I really should get off of my duff and get started. Those low mortgage rates are going to be gone before I know it!
I do know that I need to get some homework done first before I can refinance into one of the lower mortgage rates available. The first thing to look into is our credit score. A low score makes it more difficult to refinance, although getting even one percent lower saves money. I also need to look into the fees to find out if they need to be paid up front or not. Another issue is that the fees may negate the savings from lower mortgage rates, so I need to be careful. Wish me luck!
